Rob Matthews, a licensed professional engineer in Florida and South Carolina, founded Matthews Design Group, Inc. in July 2005. As president of MDG, Rob has built a thriving company by establishing solid, long-term partnerships with his clients through integrity, honest communication, and dependability.

Since has earning a master’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University in 2001, Rob has gained experience in all phases of land development engineering, and environmental and regulatory permitting. His diverse background includes site development and a solid working knowledge of engineering design and analysis. He has engineered and managed a wide variety of projects including schools and churches, municipal facilities, large “big box” commercial sites, industrial parks, strip malls, and large planned residential communities. He has managed projects in North Carolina, South
Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, Texas, Indiana, and Illinois.  

Honored in 2012 as one of “40 under 40” in the Jacksonville Business Journal, Rob takes
an active role in building a better St. Johns County community. He donates countless hours of engineering time to assist local non-profit organizations, and serves on various boards for local community organizations. Rob is a member of the St. Johns County Economic Development Executive Council and past Chairman of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce. He serves on the Board of Directors for The ARC of St. Johns, Flagler Hospital, and Friends of GTM Reserve, as well as the Advisory Boards for the Nease High School Engineering Academy and the Creekside High School Engineering Academy. He continues as an active member of the Gator Bowl Committee.
